Wilmington Real Estate

Wilmington is located in Southeastern NC, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River.  With over 100,000 residents, Wilmington is a thriving city with a solid economic base and tons of southern charm.

Since the connection of I-40 to Wilmington twenty plus years ago, Wilmington has grown considerably with new residents being drawn to the city from all 50 states and overseas. What’s the draw?  Wilmington’s  natural coastal landscapes,  mild four-season climate, rich culture, Historic Riverfront District, its four beach communities (Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach), state-of-the-art medical facilities, a thriving art scene, solid economy, two colleges, and more.

Sports and outdoor adventures are important leisure activities in the Port City.  It's a haven for organized competitive events year-round: 5Ks, Iron Man, Triathlons and marathons, numerous surfing and stand up paddle boarding events, fishing tournaments, the Rugby 11 tournament and more.  It's home to the Hammerheads soccer team and the Seahawks basketball team.  For the less competitive, boating and kayaking in Wilmington’s many different bodies of water are popular pastimes or simply relax at the beach.

Wilmington (sometimes referred to as ‘Wilmywood’ or ‘Hollywood East’) is well known for its vibrant film industry, Cucalorus film festival and the ‘Screen Gems’ film studio.  Several popular TV Shows have been based or made in Wilmington in recent years, including ‘Under the Dome’, Sleepy Hollow’, ‘One Tree Hill’, ‘Dawsons Creek’, Matlock, ‘Eastbound and Down’ and ‘Surface’.  Notable movies such as 'Safe Haven', ‘We’re the Millers’ ‘Iron Man 3’, ‘Journey 2, Mysterious Island’, Blue Velvet, Sleeping with the Enemy’, and many more have also been made here.

The University of North Carolina, Wilmington has a beautiful and sprawling campus in a central location in Wilmington.  Klippinger recently ranked UNCW #28  in the top 100 best values for public colleges in the U.S. and the Princeton Review named UNCW one of the best in the Southeast.  The Cape Fear Community College adds to the vibrancy of the downtown area with it's beautiful urban campus and student enrollment surpassing 28,000 students.

There are many different types of properties available in Wilmington, from condos, town homes, single-family homes, grand estates, model and custom homes, and hundreds of different neighborhoods.  If you’re looking for a home in a gated or planned community,  a subdivision with amenities, a rural, urban, golf, equestrian, coastal or beach setting, or something in between, you can start your search right here.  If you prefer, take advantage of Monica’s expertise and contact her to find a home and community that’s the right fit for you.
