Just before one reaches the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge is the historic Summer Rest Road area to the left. It borders the Intracoastal Waterway and still holds much of the charm of yesteryear with narrow lanes, no through roads and a heavy canopy of majestic oaks. Residences include a mix of older cottages and newer luxury homes, some with private piers and boat slips on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Summer Rest Road is also home to "Summer Rest Trail" a scenic bike and walking path, maintained by the City of Wilmington, that runs along the perimeter of the neighborhood. The Summer Rest Road area enjoys close proximity to Wrightsville Beach, Wrightsville Beach Park and the stores and restaurants at Lumina Station and Lumina Commons shopping centers that are just a short stroll or bike ride away.
